my idea was not to put the national service in charge of defending Our great nation but to shall we say more mundane tasks, i have a great holding with services and do beleive that when trusting a person with your life you want to know that the person they are with is there because they want to be there and not just cause they were a slacker and they were ordered to be there. i also think that we should only pay for one child and that if you have more you should be able to pay for them and not expect the rest of us to foot the bill. ( I know this may cause arguements but hey without ideas the world does not move on)

Reading what you lot have written, perhaps we should belong to China or Zimbabwe, where an individual has no rights and if you don't work you starve regardless of whether you are capable of working or not.
We live in a society that says people should live to a certain standard, and if incapable of working then the state will support you. You lot appear to be lucky, you have had the opportunity to get jobs yet a lot of people don't through circumstances or whatever.
Your comments about putting in people into national service is fine, but don't let them stand next to me, heaven forbid they might smell.. and even then they are only fit for cleaning bogs, or perhaps, alternatively it might be the one chance they get in life to make something of themselves and be a loyal colleague in the armed forces that protects your back when in conflict. The word snob springs to mind. You want these people to work to save your tax bill, but only in menial jobs only.
There is a saying, "there but for the grace of god go I" you lot were lucky, you perhaps had a good family and got a good job. Lots of people don't even get that basic chance, because they never had a basic education or their families had been made redundant from factories long since closed, and there was nothing ever to replace that loss.
You see a basic number of layabouts in West Howe, Townsend, Trinidad estates or Turlin Moor and want to brand the entire country with their label. What about the mining, the car manufacturing, shipping and steel industries that have been lost in the UK over the last 20 years, there has been no re investment in their communities, to give them any hope of a job, these people may even welcome a national service option, but you guys want to starve them to death, because they won't leave their communities, because they will be branded no different to the eastern europeans that come and take all our jobs, for a lower wage obviously.
If you advocate that we cut all benefits from the few layabouts, then you must also cut all benefits from everyone else, because you cannot pick and choose. In our society everyone is equal, whether we like it or not, and must be treated fairly, otherwise we have nothing more than a dictatorship

hi Janet
After reading the above , i take it your on the rock and roll as well then , and a little bitter , because some people are making a good life for them selfs by working . People that dont want to work or cant be botherd and rely on the state for everything , deserve nothing !!!!

For your information, i have never had a days unemployment over the last 22 years of my working life, maybe I just have a social conscience and can see the bigger picture, rather than the view from a pub bar stool.
I'm not saying that I agree with the fact that many people make a career out of sponging off the dole, but who decides whats a genuine case thats gets paid compared to another who doesn't get paid? If you arbitarily withdraw all benefits, then the innocent as well as the spongers get penalised. There are jobs in Bournemouth for these people, but no jobs in the mining districts of Wales or The manufacturing heartland of the UK, as I said, the bigger picture.
As for bitter, I just dislike the uninformed comments some people make, because they cannot be bothered to find out the truth

First of all sorry . Fair play to you for working , i can see your point about the people in the small mining towns and other areas , but cant these people re train ? maybe i do have a bar stool opition but , theres soooo many people out there on the sick benefit , there not sick just lazy ass dolelites that dont want to work , why should all the working people that pay tax and all the other costs of living surport these people . there should be two opitions get in to education and retrain to keep benefits or get a job , If not you dont get a penny off the state and def not any housing benefits , if it makes them homeless then so be it . that would make them want to be more focused on life and get there ass in gear !!!
Maybe if we where a bit more like the polish , we wouldnt have this dolelite culture . Fair play to the poles for taking the brit jobs as they work very hard.
We live in a society that says people should live to a certain standard, and if incapable of working then the state will support you.
What about the parents who have work 90 hours a week to make ends meet, so they can keep there roof over there heads, feed there children and put clothes on there back. yet the family next door scrounge of the system for many many years claiming they cant work thro bad back, yet are regularly seen under the car, or landscaping the garden, or slumped in front of the 42inch plasma swigging lager.
The benefit system in this country is outdated, each person on dole should only receive it for 6months, there are thousands of jobs out there.
Those on the sick benefit should be reviewed every 6months, with a full medical review, even people in wheel chairs can work in our new modern society.
The USA has a good Benefit system, you only get what you have gained thro working, if you aint worked after 6weeks get a job.
Since 1986 i have had three days on the dole, i was not entitled to nothing, why? yet many many people leave school, go to college go on the dole. How does that work ?
You know what mate..... I havent got a clue what I would do but I know for sure that I wouldnt allow all these benefits that these lazy arseholes get.
Really gets on my nerves knowing that Im out there working and paying tax for some lazy buttwipe to go and claim down the dole office because they cant be arsed to get a job.
Not to mention those that seem to have kids... not because they want kids, but because they know the state will provide them with a council house that we have to pay for.
The whole system sucks but I think the government over the years have dug themselves a hole so deep that they will never get out of it and its going to get worse before it gets any better.
And if you were in charge how would you judge if one is "workshy" or genuinely looking for a job but not found one? Or to put it another way, how would you judge the 1 million+ who are on the dole?
