 Liberal Party in Bournemouth
News from the Bournemouth AreaAnonymous writes "

If you are interested in politics why not find out more about the Liberal Party ? WE are NOT the Liberal Democrats!

What sort of things do you think we should be doing in Bournemouth ? Do you think the Conservatives are doing a goof job of running Bournemouth? What do you think about the Liberal Democrats not supporting a referendum on further Euro integration ?

Are you a victim of the Bournemouth low-wage economy ? - We are the only party that want to do something about this !

 Speak Clearly and Confidently
News from the Bournemouth Areaminialice writes "

We're halfway through the school year and in a few months time hundreds of school leavers will be looking forward to new college courses or new careers. Unfortunately a large proportion of these people will find that their speaking skills are inadequate. They've managed to get through school or college by mumbling because their friends and family have grown accustomed to the way they speak.

I teach a large number of young adults (18 - 26yrs) who find that their new employers and workmates can't understand what they are saying. These young adults suddenly feel embarrassed about the way they speak.

Most of them speak too quickly, too quietly and are afraid to open their mouths. Luckily with a few lessons on clear speaking and the desire to improve most find that results can be achieved in a few weeks.

The most useful thing anyone can do to improve their speech is to slow down and open the mouth. When you say the word 'high' you should be able to put three fingers vertically in your mouth when you practice and two when talking in normal conversation. Look at yourself in a mirror and you'll be surprised how small the opening is!

Pause at the end of every new thought. Imagine a full stop at the end of each thought and say ‘full stop’ to yourself. If you have a habit of saying ‘um’ or ‘alright’ at the end of a sentence, again, say it to yourself.

Starting in April, Serena Greenslade of http://www.easyeasytalktalk.com is running half day sessions in the middle of Bournemouth. Private lessons are also available and Serena will come to your home or place of work as long as it’s in the Bournemouth area.

Bournemouth Beach Voted Best in Britain
News from the Bournemouth Area

"Bournemouth has been voted best beach by a popular national seaside magazine. The award took into account water quality, scenic beauty, wildlife, visitor facilities and outdoor activities. The award was voted by approximately 10,000 Coast Magazine readers."

Mark Smith head of Bournemouth Tourism said: “We are thrilled that the readers of Coast Magazine have voted Bournemouth as the Best Beach in Britain. The seafront team work extremely hard throughout the year to keep up the high standards that visitors have become accustomed to over the years. Bournemouth beach has seen a lot of investment over the last couple of years with the face lift of Bournemouth pier and new restaurant and the replenished beach making the beach even wider.”

“Water quality was one of the subjects that Bournemouth was praised on and this is something we take great pride in. We can have up to 100,000 people on the beach on a hot, sunny bank holiday weekend so we want these visitors to have a good experience of the beach and to return year after year.”

“This award adds to the ENCAMS award Bournemouth Beach received in 2004 for the Best Beach in Britain and also the Mother & Baby Magazine award for Best Family Friendly Beach and we also have 4 Blue Flags along our beaches for water quality.”

“External endorsements like this always mean a lot as they are voted for by the public who are the actual users of the beach and these awards were voted for by 10,000 readers of Coast Magazine.”

Notes:

Other subjects that Bournemouth was praised for included:
Scenic Beauty – This refers to the majestic cliffs and the views of the Purbecks and the Needles.
Wildlife - The natural beauty of the Chines and the cliffs and we do have visiting dolphins every year!
Visitor Facilities - These are kept to high standards and there’s a multitude of restaurants along the beach.
Outdoor Activities - Events such as the Rallye Sunseeker, Fireworks, Boat Trips, Water Sports and of course we have the forthcoming Bournemouth Air Festival on the Seafront 28-31 August.
